Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy is best to be taken weekly, however this can be reduced to fortnightly should long term therapy be required.
As this is your therapy it is entirely up to you, although this will continually be reviewed. However, I do recommend to commit to 6 sessions in the first instance.
Again, this is up to you. You may find that one way works better for you or that you may not be able to attend a session in person. This can be adapted to suit your needs.
Sessions will be confidential, however as a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) I adhere to their ethical framework which means that I undertake monthly supervision to ensure that I am working within my competencies and therefore discussions may take place albeit anonymously. The only time I would break our confidentiality agreement will be if I feel that there is a risk of significant harm to yourself or someone else. I also adhere to GDPR 2018 and all personal information will be kept in a locked filing cabinet.
It can be scary for anyone to start counselling least of all children or young people, therefore I recommend that you attend the beginning of the initial session. However, if your child is over the age of 11, this may not be needed.

Concessions are available, subject to availability for Counselling Students and low income households. Please enquire on initial contact for availability.
Yes, sessions are available in the evenings and weekends and I can accommodate shift work.
Payment can be made by bank transfer and I ask that this is received a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled session.
If you would like me to send a session and payment reminder via text or email this can be arranged.
As the sessions take place in my home, you may hear my dog in the house but he will not be in the therapy room. I also have a cat and he may be in the therapy room from time to time, therefore I do not recommend face to face sessions if you are allergic to animals.
Yes, I hold a current clear enhanced DBS.
Unfortunately, there may be times that I cannot counsel you due to a conflict of interest which will be discussed upon initial enquiry should this occur.
Please give 24 hours notice if you need to change or cancel an appointment. Appointments cancelled at short notice or not attended will be liable for the full fee.
Unfortunately, there is 1 step into my counselling room, however I can offer counselling sessions online if this is more suitable for you.
